Lump of Clay is a funny webcomic about a statue and some other characters. It’s written by Jonathan Ichikawa. It was launched on Monday, November 20, 2006, and the idea is supposed to be that it updates five times a week, Monday-Friday.

This is the part of the web page where there are some questions, followed by answers to the questions.

Question #1: If for whatever reason I wanted to get in contact with the author, would the best way to do that to be to send an email to ichikawa@gmail.com?

Question #2: Can I leave comments on posts, like on a regular blog?

Sure, why not? Go for it! I’ll delete, like, spam and grossly offensive stuff. But everybody likes discussions, right? Yeah!

Question #3: How come your strip has stupid art? Don’t you know how to draw?

I’m actually a superb drawer, as you may have noticed from the banner art at the top of the page. The reason I use stupid art is that I don’t think you deserve better. Prove me wrong.

Question #4: What’s this strip about, anyway?

Pretty much whatever I think is interesting and/or funny or whatever. It reflects my own interests and, in various ways, my personality. It’s about stuff that I like. So don’t be surprised to see an emphasis on such themes as: philosophy, love, opera, Goldfish brand baked snack crackers, drawing subtle but important distinctions, sex, the San Francisco 49ers, margaritas, the Platonic form of the good, etc.

Question #5: And what’s your deal?

I’m Jonathan. I’m working on a Ph.D. in philosophy. I also sing and take showers and talk to my friends and take short walks on the beach. I hang out on the internet some, too. You can find me on, like, LiveJournal (barilosopher) and Facebook and stuff.

Question #6: How do you publish this site?

I use WordPress, and this cool theme ComicPress. There are links in my sidebar to tell you about it.

Question #7: Do you like positive and negative feedback, suggestions for new storylines and characters, funny jokes and gags and stuff? Like, can I send you a fun idea I have for a comic?

Yes! I’m not one of those bigwigs who’s “too busy” to “take suggestions” from “hundreds of fan emails a day”. I’ll let you know if that changes. Totally, email me. Or leave a comment on a comic. Or whatever. But, umm, don’t be pissed off if I’m shitty about responding. And if you email me to give me an idea, you gave it to me and it’s mine to use as I like. Right.

Question #8: How come it’s called ‘Lump of Clay’?

For an awesome clever philosophy reason. It’s amazing, I promise. If you don’t know much about philosophy you should probably just trust me on this one.
